The first book I made completely from scratch and, therefore, the one I’m still most proud of.
Made as a gift for a friend, this book was inspired by The Neverending Story. Hand-sewn, using traditional bench-sewing techniques, the pages were then bound in rich textured bronze paper over covers of padded foam-board. These were then trimmed with silver clay corner-guards, and finished with a serpentine knotwork design in silver and bronze-painted art clay.
The serpent design represents the AURYN as depicted in the 1984 movie of The Neverending Story, the mystical amulet used by the Childlike Empress to carry out her wishes*. One serpent represents Fantastica, the other, the Real World.
*Disclaimer: This book does not grant wishes. As far as I’m aware.
