This large, hand-stitched book is bound in maroon metallic leather, set with a single panel of embossed and carved veg-tanned leather. The hammered portions of the Victorian design are coloured with metallic copper paint, and the scrollwork is picked out in gold-coloured metal leaf. Mahogany dye and varnish give a wood-effect to the remaining section of the panel.
A broad strap closes the book, held in place by a trigger-clasp with an antique finish, and the back is trimmed with rivets to protect the cover.
