A Steampunk Experiment
My first steampunk book!
A celebration of everything that makes for Instant Steampunk – leather, brass, rivets and cogwheels, with a zip-lock spine that any mad scientist would be proud of.
The cover and strap are green and bronze textured leather. A light brass chain connects the clockwork decoration to a small clock key, which in turn locks the riveted brass-washer strap in place. The corners are protected by L-shaped plates fixed with domed rivets. More rivets adorn the spine, attaching the cover to a red fabric and brass zipper. Unzipped, a fine hand-stitched spine is revealed.
This was one of the most time-consuming book projects I’ve worked on to date, but very satisfying. Nothing works out stress like hammering rivets.
